2005 Tanker

The Mont Vernon Fire Department received a grant from the US Government to replace the 1972 tanker truck. This grant has funded the purchase of a new 3,000 gallon tanker-pumper. This new apparatus not only carries a similar quantity of water as the replaced truck, but adds the ability to pump that water without the assistance of additional apparatus.

The Federal Government has funded the grant in the amount of $182,700. The Town of Mont Vernon approved matching funds in the amount of $43,730 from the Fire Truck Capital Reserve Fund at Town Meeting March 9, 2004.

The new tanker truck is mounted on a commercial International cab and chassis, and has a custom built body with water tank and fire pump. The truck was built at Dingee Machine in Cornish, NH. It was delivered on January 15, 2005. After training and the addition of lettering and radios the truck was placed in service on January 25, 2005.

The United States Fire Administration (USFA) administers the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program each year. The USFA is part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
